It All Comes Down to Trust

Sometimes we feel, like the psalmist, David, in Psalm 82. Sometimes we feel like God is judging unjustly and accepting the wicked. We think that He is forgetting about the needy and poor. We question Him. We ask “why?” to the all-mighty, all-powerful Creator of the Universe! Who are we to question Him? “What is man that thou art mindful of him?” -(Psalm 8:4)

But the thing that we don’t understand is God’s viewpoint. When he looks at us, we are ALL wicked and unjust, “all sinned and come short of the glory of God” -(Romans 8:28) Yet the fact that He chooses even one of us should amaze us to the point beyond belief. He isn’t obligated to save any of us. Yet, in His grace He does accept those who call upon Him -(Jeremiah 33:3) He accepts and chooses those whom He pleases….He loves those whom He loves….He cares for those whom He cares for….He protects those whom He protects. It’s as simple as that, and yet we have such a hard time just accepting His will. Seems that so many times we want to “understand” and try to “diagram” life when really we should just trust God. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that you shouldn’t make plans. Just remember that God has a plan for each of us and His is a lot better than ours, whether we know it or not. We always seem to just confuse things a whole lot more. Look at verse five in Psalm 82: “They understand not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.”

As God’s children, we have a honor and privilege to know God intimately. He is our Father. We are His sons.  We have an amazing relationship with God. We can thank him every day for this high, individual, and unique favor. We, as Christians, have so much to be thankful for and nearly all the time we are not as grateful as we ought to be. God help us to be more appreciative for His numerous and unconditional blessings that He never ceases to rain down upon us! And when you do feel forgotten and abandoned—-for believe me this feeling is real—-then cry out to your Father and trust Him, “For he hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.” -(Hebrews 13:5 and Joshua 1:5)

Even in our darkest hour, our hardest time, our greatest need, God is always right beside us….even when we can’t see Him. Especially when we can’t see Him.

Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Here is the famous Chicken Enchilada Casserole recipe! Enjoy! :)

1. White Sauce:

3 tablespoons Olive Oil

3 tablespoons Flour

2 cups Milk

1 can Ro-tel

(cook Sauce till it gets thick)

Add:

1 small can diced green chilies

2 tablespoons Taco Seasoning

1 cup grated Monterrey Cheese

1 pint of Sour Cream (16 oz.)

2. Saute:

2 – 3 boneless Chicken Breast meat

1/2 a diced Onion

Mix with:

20 – 30 broken Corn Tortillas

Top with cheese and bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hr.

Toes

Recently, my toes have been getting into a lot of trouble. It all began when I went to the beach in Corpus Christi. I was swimming in the ocean on a surfboard and stepped on a glass bottle. My heel and second toe were badly cut and I had to get five stitches in my foot. And, of course I didn’t swim anymore the rest of that day.

After that escapade, I went swimming at my brother-in-law and sister’s pool and burnt the bottom of all my toes on both feet. This happened while walking around with bare feet on the concrete sidewalk. The following week, I could only walk on my heels and wobbled around wherever I went.

Later, I went to Fiesta Texas and wore black sneakers with white socks. That was a big mistake! I walked around the park for the whole day in wet shoes. That night, I took off my shoes and found out that my socks and toes had turned completely blue. Yes, blue. The nails are still faintly blue and I am wondering when they will finally return to normal.

Yesterday, the toenails finally got what they deserved. I painted them with a pink, glittery, nail polish. But, I must confess, this might of been the worst torture I had put them through.

Now, I can proudly declare that my toes have been cut, burnt, turned blue, and painted. Hopefully, this is as far as it will ever go….

Why are we a Great Nation?

Lately, I have been reading about the Civil Rights Movement, Martin Luther King, Jr, The Vietnam War, and LBJ. I feel pretty strongly about the subject of integration and wanted to put some of my thoughts down on paper. The right to vote and protest has been ripped from the hands of thousands of African-Americans. Ever since they were shipped to America on slave ships to the year 1964, they have been forced to put up with all kinds of threats, violence, harm, abuse, and prejudice. Legally speaking, the right to vote came with the 15th amendment. But socially speaking, it took the Civil Rights movement to make it a reality. Even today, some people still feel prejudice towards African-Americans.

Thankfully, we have finally crushed slavery and America is now truly a free country for ALL people; men and women, black and white, children and adults. As the Declaration of Independence says itself, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

I am proud of my country and think that this is the real reason why we are great: America is free. I hope that this is the way our country will stay. I hope that we will continue to be a beacon and example to other nations around the world.

The Definition of Nervousness

This afternoon, I discovered the true definition of nervousness.

I played the piano. That part wasn’t new, I’ve been learning for five years…or something like that…but today was different. Today, I played in front of an audience. Okay, it was an audience of elderly men and women, but still….It was an unfamiliar setting, unfamiliar piano,  and I had never played with people singing along. Let me just say something,  I’m glad I did it. It was a good experience. Before, someone had told me that “early experiences are the ones we remember best.” I’ll definitely remember this one. It was a good memory. Thank you everyone who supported, prayed, and encouraged me!! I love you guys!!

I hope this will serve as a lesson to me and everyone else. Whether you feel nervous or scared about something, simply trust God and do whatever you can as best as you can!
